Day 30 - Almost Over?

Wow - it's hard to believe that May is almost over. A long holiday weekend is a tough way to finish up the month's writing endeavours. Are the words flowing or are they at a stand-still while you enjoy the holiday?

Okay, we are officially 58% of the way through May. And that means... who knows what that means, but hopefully you've written more this month than you would have otherwise!

Day 15/16/17

Hmmm... the blog poster seems to be a bit behind on posting the daily blog. Perhaps that is an indication of how much she's been writing.

So, ladies, how are those novels and chapter books looking today?

Day 14

Maybe the reason NaNoWriMo is in November is because you're more tempted to stay inside on grey, rainy days.

How's it going ladies??

I'm at zip, zero, zilch for the day, but have lots of ideas germinating that will have to kick around in my brain a little longer through school pickup, doctor's appointment, baseball game, dinner, ...

Here's to renewed ambition in the coming week and inspiration to you all.

It's hard to believe that we've started week two.

Today's writing marks the conclusion of week one. Are you where you want to be?

Happy writing!

Thursday, May 6, 2010

Day 6

Okay, we're more than one-fifth of the way through the month and cruising.

Question: what do you do when you get stuck in your writing to help you keep going?

My answer: I skip ahead. Literally, I will just write "Tyler has conversation with Grandma. FINISH LATER." and move ahead to a part that I can more easily move through.

Welcome!

This is the launch of the MaNoWriMo blog. Inspired by the real thing NaNoWriMo, but not wanting to wait until November a few of us have decided to challenge ourselves to write a novel in the month of May.

We'll keep track of word count or whatever your goal may be in the Comments section. The first order of business is to state your goal. I'll start by putting mine in the Comments below.

I'll also offer a few tips I learned last year in my first NaNoWriMo:
  • Some advance character sketches may be helpful
  • Chris Baty's book "No Plot, No Problem" is awesome! He is the creator of NaNoWriMo.
  • A handy list of names of potential characters can save you some time. When a new character pops into the story, it's nice to not have to spend valuable minutes (hours?) pondering what to name him.
Let's Write!!
